AVVEC, formerly Solidarite Femmes Geneve, is a non-profit association founded in 1977 with the aim of providing psychotherapy and social support to women victims of domestic violence, and their children, as well as making both the general public and professionals aware of the issue.
In 2016, the association expanded its mission to provide its expertise to all victims of intimate partner violence, and notable, men as well as LGBT individuals. Anyone who Is a victim of intimate partner violence, irrespective of their legal status and whatever group they belong to, can apply to the association for help.
Since children who grow up in a situation of intimate partner violence are always affected, AVVEC provides support and help to them via their mother.
The association is a recognized charity and subsidized by the Department of Finance and Human Resources of the Canton of Geneva, as well as some of the communes of Geneva.
